'Amended' European RoHS Directive and extended application range
As of July 22, 2019 the ‘amended’ European RoHS Directive (2015/863/EU) as well as the extended application range (category 11) will come into force. Then devices including the additional banned substances of RoHS may not be placed on the market any more. The limit is 0.1 % by weight per each individual new banned substance. With these limit values it is taken into account that there might be minor impurities, which are technically unavoidable. Attention, there is NO exceptions. Also, from July 22, 2019 these banned substances are also applicable to cables which to date were not affected by Directive 2011/65/EU.
FBDi association will edit specimen letters for manufacturers, which will be available for download for its member companies.
Additionally, FBDi points out the classification ‘not relevant’ – the use of a non-electronic component in an electronic device is only allowed in compliance with all for RoHS applicable banned substances.
